SEASON /계절/

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." 

(Ecclesiastes 3:1)

  You will be surprised by how much a small bowl can hold.  As the earth moves and the weather changes, I try to capture each season--the uniqueness of time--in a palm-sized, small bowl: Winter snow, spring sprouts, summer stream, autumn leaves.

"모든 일엔 때가 있고 계절이 있습니다."

생각해 보셨나요? 손바닥 만한 작은 그릇이 얼마나 많은 것을 담을 수 있는지. 

지구가 돌고 날씨가 변하면서 많은 계절들이 다가오고 지나가는데, 

무심히 지나칠 때가 더 많았던 것 같네요. 그래서 이번엔 각각의 계절들 

그 독특함을 한번 담아보려고 했습니다. 겨울눈, 봄새싹, 여름 시냇물, 단풍잎…

내 작은 그릇에 담겨지길 기원하면서.

The First Snow! /첫눈!/

I tried to capture the spirit of winter in clay 

after watching snow falling so beautifully in front of my house.  

내 집 앞에서 예쁘게 내리는 눈 오는 모습을 본 후,

이 겨울의 얼을 점토에 담아 보려고 했습니다.

Spring! /봄!/ 

Spring is the time to see 

burgeoning sprouts.

So I bought a box of sprouts and then...
봄은 새싹을 보는 시간, 
그래서 근처가게에서 스푸라우트를 사가지고는...

Sizzling Summer! /찌는 여름!/

  
When I visited Suri Mountain in South Korea, 
I saw the clear water flowing with such force.  
So I tried to capture that spirit in clay. 
경기도 수리산에 갔을때 맑고 힘차게 흐르는 시내를 보았습니다. 
그 모습 점토에 담아보려고 했습니다.

Harvest Time. /추수철/

For the first time, I saw a golden rice field colored by a sunset, 
and said to myself, "Yes! It is fall." 
처음으로 노을에 젖은 금빛의 논을 보았습니다. 
그리곤 말했죠, "와! 정말 가을이다."

Autumn Leaves Turning Red. /단풍잎/  

Fall is also about autumn leaves.  

So I took a video of leaves turning red in front of my house. 

가을엔 단풍을 빼놓을 수 없지요. 

그래서 우리 집 앞에 빨갛게 변한 단풍을 찍어봤습니다.

Late Fall. /늦가을./    

Fall is falling 

and winter comes again.  

가을이 지내요. 

그리고 겨울이 곧 오겠죠.
