An object is just an object. However, people, including
myself, tend to use an object in a certain way. Why?
"It's because that's what is made for." People often say so.
Recently, I made three functional pieces: a bowl-looking piece. 
But I didn't want to define them in that conventional way. 
 "Being functional" means "being  capable of serving a purpose 
well." (thefreedictionary.com) So I played with things and
gadgets in my house to find out what the most pleasurable
 purpose they could be.

물건은 단지 물건일 뿐인데. 근데도, 저를 포함해서

사람들은 물건을 어떤 특정방식으로 쓰는 경향이 있는 것

같아요. 왤까요? “그렇게 만들어 졌으니까 그렇지.”

사람들은 종종 이렇게 말하곤 하죠. 최근에 그릇 형태의

세개의 기능성 조각을 만들어 보았습니다. 그치만 

전 의례적으로 그 조각들을 정의하고 싶지는 않았어요. 

“기능적이란 목적을 가장 잘 수행한다”는 의미가 있으니까. 

그래서 내 집에 있는 이것저것 물건들을 가지고

 내 조각들이 가장 즐거운 목적으로 이행될 수 있는 것이

어떤걸까 발견해 보려고 했습니다.
