VESSELS OF THE WOUNDED SOUL /상처받은 영혼의 그릇들/

 How often do you think of your soul: the deep self of your being that contains your faculty and senses and builds your personality? Tilden Edwards says, "Perhaps the greatest paradox of human life is the discovery that what is most substantial about us is most elusive."  (Edwards, Spiritual Director, Spiritual Companion)  He is speaking  of soul. As I think of my soul, I see many things in me--mostly the shadows (the ugly side) that I have tried to hide and shove aside since, it seems, they are the least respected and  welcomed in our society. However hard 
I try to oppress them, however, these states  never go away; instead they continue to whisper within me until I face and care for them. Daniel Rhodes says, "In bowl, the individuality of the potter speaks in whispers." (Rhodes, Pottery Form) Incorporating this idea, and thinking of my own soul and listening to the un-welcomed shadows and wounds, whispering within me, 
I created ten vessels of the wounded soul -- the state of brokenness in the shape of a bowl.  
I hope these pieces speak to you, too.

얼마나 자주 당신은 당신의 영혼을 생각해 보시나요. 당신의 능력과 감성을 포함하고 당신만의 개성을 빚어낸 당신의 깊은 자아. 틸든 에드월즈는 영혼에 대해 이렇게 말했죠. 

“아마도 인간 삶에서 가장 큰 모순은 우리의 가장 실재적인 부분이 우리 자신에게 가장 

모호하다는 것이다.” 내가 내 영혼을 생각할 때면, 전 내 안에 내재한 많은 것을 보는 것만 같아요. 그리고 그 대부분은 숨기고 싶고 옆으로 치워버리고 싶은 사회에서 가장 천대받고 환영받지 못한 그림자들일 때가 많지요. 하지만, 아무리 억누르려고 해도 이런 내 상태는 없어지지는 않는 것 같아요. 대신 내 안에서 계속 속삭일뿐. 내가 직시하고 보살필 때까지. 데니엘 로드는 “그릇속에서, 각각의 도예가들이 그들의 소리를 속삭인다.”라고 했어요.  그릇에 대한 이 생각과 내 영혼, 나의 환영받지 못한 그러면서도 내 안에서 끝없이 속삭이는 그림자와 상처들을 생각하며, 열개의 상처받은 영혼, 즉 그릇형태로 만들어진 나의 부서진 상태을 표현해 볼려고 했습니다.
